Fall Chrysanthemum Show

Experience a fascinating fabrication of flowers at the garden’s annual fall chrysanthemum show. Bold mums combine with vibrant colors, diverse textures and other exotic design elements- representative of the storied Japanese culture.

Japanese Ambience Festival
When: October 6thand 7th, 2018
Where: Lauritzen Gardens

For an entire weekend, the garden grounds are alive with merriment as guests celebrate the joys of autumn and experience the Japanese culture first-hand. Most activities are free with garden admission or membership.

The Omaha Sister Cities Association helps host the Autumn and Japanese Ambience Festival, with a variety of activities to celebrate the Japanese culture. Japanese Ambience also celebrates the anniversary of the gift of the Japanese Sunpu Castle Gate at Lauritzen Gardens by Shizuoka, Japan, Omaha’s first Sister City. Enjoy activities like Japanese calligraphy, koinobori, origami, chop sticks, traditional Japanese games, food tastings and more. Performances will include martial arts demonstrations, taiko drumming and traditional Japanese music and dance. Paid activities will help fund the construction of phases II and III of the future Japanese garden at Lauritzen Gardens.

Cobweb Castles
When: Now through October 31st, 2018

The annual not-so-scary seasonal exhibit, Cobweb Castle, is back, but as a new experience in 2018! Navigate the new maze to encounter new surprises and a new twist to familiar favorites. More details to come!

Howl-O-Ween Safari
When: October 5thand 6th, 2018

Make like a wolf pack and gather your family for Howl-O-Ween Safari (formerly Haunted Safari) on Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 beginning at 6 p.m. Join us ’round the campfire for dinner (your choice of a BBQ pork sandwich, a BBQ chicken sandwich or macaroni and cheese with chips and a drink) and a marshmallow roast, ride on a straw-filled hayrack ride and play Halloween-themed games in the great outdoors at Wildlife Safari Park after-hours. Remember to wear your Halloween costume and walk in our costume parade at 7 p.m. Event also includes your very own candy bag and special visits from some of our animal ambassadors.

Monster’s Masquerade
When: October 20th, 2018

Join us for the museum’s first ever fall ball! Monster’s Masquerade is a family-friendly costume ball featuring a night of play, live music and dancing, and monster themed fun! We’ll have delightful monsters and creatures throughout the museum, including minions, snakes & spiders with Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District, ‘smores making, and our not-so-scary seasonal exhibit, Cobweb Castle, featuring a new design with a maze! Additional activities include face painting, monster slime making, pumpkin painting, mini scarecrow making, and more! Dance the night away with music by The Beatles cover band, Come Together Band: Music of The Beatles.

Omaha’s Great Pumpkin Festival

Come out to Village Pointe for a full day of Halloween festivities with pumpkin carving, trick-or-treating, a concert, and end the night with the lighting of the Giant Pumpkin Tree in Center Court!

Old Market Fall Festival

Put on your costumes and head to the museum for a night of indoor trick-or-treating from 5:30 to 8 p.m. (while supplies last). Once you’re done collecting your healthy or non-food goodies, play throughout the museum. The event is included with regular museum admission and is free for members.
